The Call of Our Times: A Journey to Wholeness
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that life is inviting us to rise up and uplift one another, even in the face of a culture that often pulls us apart — away from each other, away from ourselves, and away from the planet that is home to us all.
This is a unique and unprecedented time we live in. Today, we’re experiencing a collective awakening, a summons that goes beyond showing up. We’re being called to transform. This isn’t just about personal growth anymore; it’s also about the healing of our planet and all who inhabit it.
In her classic work Wheels of Life, Anodea Judith reminds us that this journey is one of harmonizing our energies. From the grounding presence of the root chakra to the expansive connection of the crown, she speaks of the dance between earth and spirit, where we are both deeply rooted and infinitely expansive. But this alignment isn’t just a personal aspiration, it’s a global imperative.
We live in a time where the old paradigm is crumbling. We see it in the unraveling of outdated systems, in the cries for justice and equity, and in the profound shifts happening within our environment. This is the call to elevate our collective consciousness to a level that transcends division and fear. But to heed this call, we must begin within — to mend our own brokenness and our disconnection from ourselves, each other, and the planet that cradles us.
While traveling with my spiritual mentor years ago, I visited a sweet little goddess temple in Kuala Lumpur. Despite the surrounding city, the temple was calm and serene and I happily tucked myself amidst its gardens to meditate for a bit. As I sat there, enveloped in the quiet, something unexpected happened. The veil between the ordinary and the divine began to lift, and I experienced a powerful realization. I saw, with a clarity beyond words, that feminine qualities such as peace, harmony and beauty are not just passive ideals, but immense forces, as powerful as ocean tides. I felt their strength not in my mind but in my very being. It was as if the universe whispered directly to my heart, showing me that these qualities are not gentle, but mighty — not fragile, but fierce in their own way. In that moment, I understood that to fully embrace them is to tap into a deep well of strength that is often overlooked and underestimated. It was clear to me then: true strength comes from the wholeness of honoring the feminine as powerful in its own right alongside the masculine. And to embody these feminine strengths fully is to embody the full spectrum of human potential, for they hold the key to reclaiming our human hearts and restoring equilibrium in ourselves and the world around us.
The world doesn’t need us to be perfect. The world needs us to be whole. And wholeness is not about having it all figured out. It’s about honoring all that we are — shadows and all. It’s about recognizing that every part of us plays a role. When we integrate our lower chakras — our survival instincts, emotions and will — with our higher chakras — our love, expression and intuition — we become a force of nature. We become the bridge between earth and spirit.
This is the essence of the call of our times. It’s about each of us stepping into our full power, not just for ourselves but also for each other. It’s about using our voices to speak truth, our hearts to spread love, and our wisdom to create a new world. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for, and this is the moment we’ve been preparing for.
But answering this call isn’t always easy work. As with most journeys, it begins with curiosity, the kind that compels us to ask the big questions and explore the unknown. Curiosity invites us to wonder who we are beyond our roles and identities, to seek deeper truths about ourselves and the world. It’s about daring to see beyond the familiar, to challenge old beliefs, and to imagine new possibilities. Curiosity acts as a springboard for transformation, igniting the spark that leads us to look inward and outward with fresh eyes, open to the vast potential that lies within and all around us.
Along with curiosity, we must also cultivate compassion. This is the heart of the journey — the quality that allows us to accept ourselves and others with kindness and understanding. Compassion means holding space for our own pain and the pain of others, acknowledging that we all struggle and we all have wounds. It’s about recognizing our shared humanity and extending grace where it’s needed, even and especially when that feels like a tall order. Compassion softens our defenses, inviting us to heal and connect on a deeper level. It reminds us that we’re not alone. We are all part of a larger whole, and our own healing is intertwined with the healing of the world.
And finally, there’s courage. Courage is the force that propels us forward and comes alongside curiosity and compassion, which gives us the sustenance to be brave. Courage is the strength to face our fears and insecurities — to move beyond the comfort of the known and take bold steps into the unknown. Courage is what enables us to act on our deepest truths, to stand firm in our convictions, and to pursue our vision for the future, even when it feels daunting. Courage is the bravery to live authentically, knowing that our actions can help shape a more just and loving world.
Answering the call of our times requires all three attributes — curiosity to explore, compassion to heal, and courage to act. These are tools that you and I are already equipped with, which will will help us navigate our way into the new paradigm that awaits. Our curiosity will invite us to imagine a better future informed by the diversity of life. Our compassion will allow us to authentically connect and deeply care for one another. And our courage will bravely bring that holistic vision to life. Together, these qualities create a powerful force for transformation, guiding us to take skillful action as we step boldly into a future that we can’t yet see but believe is possible. And it all begins with you and me, doing our work in our little corner of the world.
So, will you rise to the opportunity this moment holds? Will you dare to step into the effulgence of who you truly are and become a beacon of hope and healing for the world? I believe you will. And I know with every fiber of my being that it will lead us toward something extraordinary. The universe is calling us to evolve and become the most authentic, loving and powerful versions of ourselves for one another.
This is the call. The time is now. Let’s rise up and answer the call together.
